Ask a woman in her 30s about her thoughts on aging and she would probably flinch.

Although aging is a normal part of life, women, in particular, fear even the thought of growing old. Notwithstanding the pressing societal factors, however, there is a particular downside about aging, and that is menopause.

Part of the aging process is menopause. Menopause typically occurs between the ages of 40 and 50. During this stage, hormone production in the ovaries ceases. By then, there will be no more hormones to influence sexual behavior.

In other words, a woman’s entire reproductive functioning gradually deteriorates as characterized by having dry and itchy skin, sagging breasts, wrinkles, loss of libido, hot flashes, deteriorating health condition, and hair loss.

Among these changes, hair loss is what most women find most disturbing. However, it is a subject which is less frequently discussed. Menopause and hair loss are not, in all angles, directly associated with each other.

The change in hormone levels, a deteriorating health condition, medications, increased stress, and even heredity all contribute to hair loss, excessive hair fall, or hair thinning during menopause. To rule out serious health conditions, a woman who is suspecting hair loss should consult a physician.

Lifestyle Change: An Important Treatment for Hair Loss During Menopause

The kind of treatment for menopausal hair loss depends on the underlying cause of the condition. A very important phase, however, is a change in lifestyle.

A woman in this stage may feel that a lifestyle change is way too late. Well, it isn’t. In fact, an aging body needs twice or thrice as much attention more than ever at this point in life.

Foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, biotin, B-complex, zinc, iron, iodine, and copper can stimulate hair growth. It is similarly important to cut down on sugar and alcohol intake. They can exacerbate hair loss.

Regular exercises also help a lot in stopping hair loss as well as reducing the stress levels. The bottom line is to maintain a healthy and peaceful state of mind and body.
